Aloha, my name is Matt Heirakuji. I was born and raised on Oahu and I have grown up appreciating the beauty and aloha that surrounds us in Hawaii. Being from one of the most beautiful and culturally rich places in the world, I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to capture that essence through the lens of my camera.
I have always been a visual person and enjoyed creating, and I was lucky to have the opportunity to turn that passion into a career. I work primarily as a DP for video and photo, on land and in the water. Most of my work is rooted in surf, commercial, and documentary. I am looking forward to handling more work of this nature, with a bigger team of local, like-minded talent.
Working with a team of Hawaiians is exciting and rewarding for me because I get to see the progression of filmmaking here on the islands, as well as work with lifelong friends in the industry. My goal is to help create a sustainable business here in the islands, to capture and enrich projects on a bigger scale, with fellow Hawaiians and visitors alike. I carry 8 years of local work and business knowledge, and a selfless team attitude.
